In the 1940's, Phosphoric and Sodium compound was used for pearl luster pigment. (All the above pearl luster pigment are poisonous, cannot be widely used) In the 1960's, MicaTitanium pearl luster pigment was developed. quotPrinciple: Pearl pigment is made according to the principle of pearl.It is a kind of inorganic pigment.Its basic material is small mica wafer and its surface cladding is metal oxide of high refraction index,such as TiO2,ZrO2,etc.Various interference colors will be obtained along with the different thickness of cladding layer.
Cladding other metal oxide,lide chromic oxide and ferric oxide,on sheet mica,bright metallic color can be obtained.Attractive golden yellow is the result of synchronous mixed cladding of TiO2 and Fe2O3.If metal oxide of high refraction index,mica wafer of low refraction index and periphery media of low refraction index are arranged in parallel,visible rainbow color will be obtained.quot
